Supporters of USF Athletics made big play after big play during the first phase of the USF: Unstoppable Campaign. The results are nothing short of extraordinary. Now we have more goals to score and downs to make.
USF student-athletes have made the university proud both on the field and in the classroom. And the benefactors of USF Athletics have worked together to make a real difference in the lives of these students who represent the very best of USF. Benefactors like you.
New Venues Lead to New Heights
At the start of every season, coaches and players come together and set high goals for collective achievement. Individual players may have their own goals, but collectively, they all have a singular focus – victories, championships, glory.
For the benefactors of USF Athletics, the beginning of the USF: Unstoppable Campaign was no different. There were very high goals, and their achievement would lead to victories, championships, and collective glory. As the first phase of the Campaign closed, we saw the fruits of these efforts.
Before the Campaign, there was a real need for the expansion of football practice facilities. Today, the Frank Morsani Football Complex is comparable to the best the NCAA has to offer. The same need was true for the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Today, the Pam and Les Muma Basketball Center provides these student-athletes with practice facilities that are second-to- none.
Before the Campaign, the playing fields for baseball and softball needed upgrading. Today, the Gonzmart Family Plaza anchors a beautiful baseball and softball complex. Similarly, the men’s and women’s soccer teams played on a pitch that wasn’t all it could be. Today, Corbett stadium is the envy of every opposing side.
The Campaign has touched student athletes in other sports as well, including track and field and golf. The USF golf teams enjoy the amazing new Chowdhari Golf Center on their home course.
The Next Phase: Focusing on the Student-Athlete
As transformational as the changes have been in USF Athletics, we’re not stopping.
In phase two of the USF: Unstoppable Campaign, we’re focusing on improving the lives of our student-athletes.
We will honor the memory of our friend and colleague, Lee Roy Selmon, by endowing a mentoring program for our seniors – Mentoring U, Selmon Style. This program will team top executives with student-athletes who have proven themselves off the field, giving each of them a life-changing experience.
We’re focusing on expanding scholarship funding for our student-athletes as well. Private, endowed funding will ensure that we are able to attract the best athletes in all sports, including those that are played far away from the bright lights of filled stadiums.
Focusing on our student-athletes, we will work with you to ensure that their time at USF prepares them for life after the final whistle.
