Florida Matching Gift Programs*
July 1, 2011, state matching funds to the challenge grant programs (University
Major Gifts and Alec P. Courtelis University Facility Enhancement) are
temporarily suspended for donations received on or after June 30, 2011.
Existing eligible donations remain eligible for future matching funds. The
program may be restarted after $200 million of the current backlog is paid. The
timing of this is uncertain.
Generation Matching Gifts Program
provides a dollar-for-dollar match for operating scholarship gifts for students
who are the first in their family to attend college. In 2006, the Florida legislature passed the
initial legislation to establish this program to provide financial aid to undergraduate
students at Florida’s state universities who are the first generation in their
families to attend college. The intent of this program is to bring the American
dream within reach of Florida residents whose parents never graduated from

program provides a percentage match for endowed gifts supporting faculty chairs
or professorships, student scholarships, academic programs, library support and
percentage matches available for such gifts are displayed below* :

Enhancement Challenge Grant Program -- Temporarily Suspended
provides a dollar-for-dollar match for operating gifts for capital construction
for instruction or research facilities.
All projects must be on the 5-year capital improvement plan and be
approved by the Board of Governors or Legislature to be eligible for a state

*Funding and match percentages for all
matching gift programs are determined by the State Legislature and are subject
to change. The amount of match is
determined at the time a gift is fully paid and certified to the State Match
Office. USF submits eligible gifts for matching but does not control the time
or amount of the match funded by the legislature.
