College of Engineering

Make A Gift

Two generations of the world’s top engineers earned their degrees from the University of South Florida’s College of Engineering. During the past decade, the college has built upon its original mission of excellence in undergraduate education to create a top-notch research infrastructure. Today, the college is combining this powerful research program with its long-standing foundation in undergraduate education to become truly unstoppable.

Local Solutions to Global Challenges

Research in the College of Engineering continues to focus on finding ways to build a better life for people around the globe. Whether it’s finding systems approaches to solving challenges involving energy and the environment, advancing breakthroughs in biomedical engineering or designing the next generation of robotics, the college’s research engine is a national leader in the discovery of solutions to today’s most pressing engineering challenges. Through the recruitment of top research minds in a variety of fields, the college is well positioned to create new knowledge and solve real-world problems. By reinvesting in its undergraduate education roots, the College of Engineering ensures that every student will have a stake in doing so.

To accelerate momentum of the College of Engineering, we are embarking on a historic fundraising effort. In the end, our success will allow us to bring together the best students and top-quality faculty under one remarkable state-of-the-art roof. This is our vision. This is the USF College of Engineering … unstoppable.

Engineering a New Facility

The College of Engineering seeks to expand its physical footprint to match its expanded aspirations for undergraduate education and faculty research. To do so, it must build a 21st century facility that enhances the undergraduate experience.

This new building will contain high-tech classrooms and new laboratories, as well as space for student services and student engineering organizations. By focusing on the needs of our students, the college will take a giant step forward in achieving its goal of turning highly skilled students into professional leaders. The new facility will ensure a holistic approach to undergraduate education.

A state-of-the-art building will improve the utility of our current facility as well. The original building will feature modern research laboratories and better work spaces for concrete canoe teams and bridge builders in civil engineering as well as vehicle shops for our mechanical engineering majors.

By creating new learning spaces and revitalizing old ones, the new College of Engineering building represents one more step in our quest to be unstoppable.

Educating the Best, Here and Abroad

The College of Engineering’s renewed focus on undergraduate education will require an infusion of scholarship dollars. New scholarships will be critical in expanding our ability to attract the best and brightest students from Florida and beyond. This new funding will also enable us to continue to improve diversity within our student body and, subsequently, within the professional engineering ranks.

Our scholarship focus goes beyond our borders. In an increasingly interconnected global economy, professional engineers may find themselves working in locales as diverse as Deltona or Dubai. Therefore, we must create new opportunities for our students through the development of Passport Scholarships. These scholarships will provide our students with crucial study-abroad opportunities throughout the developed and developing world.

Strengthening Teaching and Research

Top teaching faculty and researchers are the lifeblood of every great university. USF is no exception. In order to achieve our 21st century goals, the College of Engineering will need to continue to attract top talent to our faculty ranks. Our faculty members constitute the unstoppable heart of the College of Engineering. By creating endowed named professorships, we will be able to both retain current faculty and create new opportunities for future leaders in teaching and research.

Using these professorships, the college will reward those who display excellence in undergraduate education, research and critical community outreach.

The USF: Unstoppable Campaign will strengthen the College of Engineering in ways you won’t need a sliderule to measure. By providing new bricks and mortar, infrastructure, student scholarships and endowed professorships, the campaign will enable us to reach our full potential as creators of knowledge, producers of professional leaders and solvers of real-world problems.

Working together we will be unstoppable.
